The Woman I Love: Leaving on a Jet Plane

The Woman I Love: Leaving on a Jet Plane

At 5:00 AM my wife dropped me off at the airport. She is pregnant, it was way too early for her to be up, and this is the first time in two years of marriage that we will be apart for more than a day. Needless to say, she was crying when she left. It is very strange how normal having someone by your side everyday becomes. For the next week I will wake up alone. There will be no one to try to keep from waking up, there will be no one coming into the living room with their bird nest of a hair-do saying good morning while wiping the crust out of their eyes, no more late-night “24” sessions watching Jack Bauer save the world from nuclear threat, no more accidentally kicking my pregnant wife in the night. It is those little things that go unnoticed until I really look at what my life would be without them. I will miss you, sweetheart!
