Truth #1: No person can undo the work accomplished by Jesus when He went to the cross. When someone encounters the Gospel message and it takes them from death to life, there is nothing that can undo that work.
Truth #2: A person who has encountered the Gospel message and placed their faith in the Lord Jesus should be continually and radically transformed. Though there is nothing they can do to earn or deserve the grace of God, they should be constantly yielding to Him and walking in obedience.
The above truths are consistent and can coexist. I recently lost a friend from my ministry because the second statement somehow nullified the first in his mind. He liked to use the term “eternal security” for the first and argued that the second was a “works based salvation”.
The Enemy has a fun time with vernacular. I often find myself in a position where I have to license sin or nullify the grace of God. This is the kind of thing that drives me mad… I just wanted to share my frustration with the way we often argue even though we agree.
I am now going to refuse to waste anymore words on the limitation of words…

I was just having a discussion with a friend about this. It can seem so contradictory, and yet it works. It’s just so hard to grasp!
