The Heart of a Father: Womb

The Heart of a Father: Womb

So, I thought I should go ahead and make a blog category about being a dad as I hear you learn a lot through the whole experience.  Last night I was watching and feeling our little boy roll around in his mother’s tummy and it started to make me think about Psalm 139:13-16:

13 For You formed my inward parts ; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth ;
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance ; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

This passage took on new meaning today.  Even before I have seen this little guy’s face I am getting an impression of what he is like.  There is a little person in there who already has a set of talents and gifts that were endowed to him by the Creator of the Universe.  How cool is that?

There is a plan for this little guy.  God has huge dreams mapped out for him.  There are victories and defeats, successes and struggles, joys and heartbreaks already in the game plan.  There is a whole journey and story to be told and I am watching as the Lord is already knitting it all together.  How cool is that?

There are lessons for me to learn.  This whole idea of “Heavenly Father” is about to come to life in a very real way.  I am about to embark on a journey of discovering God and how He thinks and feels in a whole new way.  This little one will drive me to a deeper intimacy with my God.  How cool is that?
